When you double-click a Word file, does it open in Word 2007? You probably have something corrupted in your installation. The KB you pointed out though is the correct one for manually removing Office 2007. You upgraded this machine from a Vista Beta to RTM? That wouldn't surprise me that it causes problem.

I should have added though that you can download the free Open Office spreadsheet program which can open QP files (I'm pretty sure<g>) and save as XLS. ... Unfortunately (but complimentarily at least to Excel 2003 and prior), OpenOffice only shows .WB2 (QP6) files in its Open dialog.

If you're referring to the list of recent documents on the right hand side of the menu drop down when clicking the Office Button in Word 2007 then you can reset those by setting to zero the "Show this Number of Recent Documents" setting in Word Options (Alt, T, O, A then scroll down to the 'Display' section).

The problem seem to be opening office 2003 emails that are stored in a folder on a share drive. Opening the office 2003 emails in outlook 2003 wasn'ta problem but now with outlook 2007 the 2003 emails don't open Presumably these are .msg files? What happens if you drag one into Outlook?
